Trinity of Powers

The Trinity of Powers

After the Dark Time, the Darkness was defeated by the coming of Light, and the Namahain were overthrown, but not destroyed. At the very end, Darkness struck a final blow against Light, and it was shattered into three beings - the Trinity of Powers.

The final sundering reshaped the world. The three aspects of light were the Goddess, the Horned One and one other. It was the Goddess that created the Children, the Aoris. The Horned One taught mankind to unlock their powers, but was horrified when Man used those powers to build up civilisation, for he was a god of the wilderness.

The Gods

Goddess

The Goddess is the most commonly worshipped entity in Taneith, almost to the exclusion of any of the other powers. She is the goddess of warmth and summer, of growth and life. Her priestesses (for all who wear her white robes and declare themselves to be her servants are female) have knowledge of healing and health, and act as seers of the future.

Her sacred animal is the Owl.

The Horned One

The Horned One predicts the time he calls the Unending Night, when the sun will never rise, and seas will freeze. Man will not die though, but will destroy everything else in the quest for survival. He is a fatalist, and sees no point in anyone trying to escape this fate.

The Night though is not entirely without end, since Man will rise up a new sun for themselves, but it will shine over a very different world. The sooner the Night occurs, the quicker it will end, so the Horned God seeks the coming of Night in order to reduce the damage it does.

The Unnamed One

The Light was shattered into three, but only two of its fragments have made themselves known to man. There is a third Power that is as yet unknown.
