Short Folk

Inhabiting the plains and woods of Nailand are a race of short, hairy people who are collectively known as the Short Folk by the Rornic. They are possibly related to the mythical Cannadd culture in Taneith, and it is known that they lived here long before the People of Rorn came across from the Old World.

The short folk are mostly nomadic barbarians, though a proportion of them do live in small villages.

The adult men are about 150cm tall, with the women being about 10cm shorter. They are slight of build, but quite strong. Much of a male's body is covered in thick dark hair, and the fashion is to grow long beards and head hair.

The women are far less hairy, and often wear their head hair short or clean shaven. Status amongst the women is shown by less hair, though this is more fashion than anything. Real status is denoted by tatoos, which the women wear openly. The quantity and quality of the tatoos tends to increae with age.

The short folk tend to wear little or no clothing, depending on circumstances and weather. The women in particular like to show off their tatoos during social occassions.

Short folk society is a matriarchy, with tribes being ruled by the female shamans. Their gods are all earth goddesses, some of whom are quite brutal.
