Chettisham

Chettisham

A hundred town in the Shire of Northwood, a couple of leagues north of Erlwood. It has a population of about 450.

Recent Events

Recently in 1229 Riahannon, a young woman of the House of Aeddan arrives to accuse Aldwulf of Erwin of the murder of her father, the Thegn of Holham.

Since it was the word of her and her cousin against that of Aldwulf, a trial by combat was arranged, in which Aldwulf was slain. His family was outlawed, and a wergild of twenty five pounds was awarded from the remains of his estate. Ten pounds was granted direct to Rhiannon as a future dowry, and fifteen to her family for the future running of Holham.

People

The Lord of the town was Lord Aeswine of the House of Erwin. He was outlawed after his son Aldwulf murdered another thegn to avenge the killing of his brother Cuthwulf. Currently the priest Caelin and the reeve Godrun are running the town until a replacement thegn can be found.
