Bryta, First King of Bryteland

The north western coast of Euressa was settled soon after the Betrayal by people led by the Rornic king Bryta. He had sworn oaths to Voltan to find a new land for his people following their defeat and loss of their homeland to the Wizard King of Bealurwic.

Bryta is the first hero of the Brytish people, and is honoured for founding their country, and setting down the foundations of their culture. However, Bryteland under Bryta was never unified into a single Kingdom, and what organisation there was collapsed completely upon his death. A later hero, Brytweider, goes someway towards unification of the country, and it is not until after him that the term Bryteland is used to refer to the region.

History

Bryta led his people northwards as far as he could, to avoid having to fight any others who were sure to follow them. With thousands of men, women and children, it took many years to make their way through the thick forest lands of Weidany until they found a place suitable to their liking.

The biggest of their obstacles were against the Ents, who fought to stop their progress through lands they considered their own. The followers of Bryta were battle hardened though, and the Ents did not have the same experience of battle. For two years the people were prevented from travelling northwards by the Entish warriors. Many wanted to go back south and settle the lands they had already passed through, but in that direction lay the Weidanic tribes who were probably a bigger threat.

Eventually, the Ents were defeated in a great battle, and almost wiped out. Bryta and his people continued their trek northwards.
